Children charged for huge fire

Three children – one aged just eight – have been charged in connection with a huge fire in Dundee.
Officers confirmed the move following a joint probe with fire chiefs into the blaze in Lewis Terrace.
An under-construction house was destroyed in the incident, while two neighbouring properties were also damaged.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We can confirm that three boys aged 13, 10 and 8 years have been charged in relation to a fire at a property in Lewis Terrace, Dundee.
“All three will be reported to the Youth Justice Assessor.”
Emergency crews raced to the scene of the inferno just after 7.30pm on Monday.
The house in Mill O’ Mains was well alight when firefighters arrived.
Firefighters tackle the flames
Crews from Kingsway East station battled the flames for over an hour using jets and a hose reel.
The single-storey timber structure was being built by housing association Home Scotland and was being especially adapted for a disabled resident.
The fire service received several 999 calls about the incident after great plumes of smoke could be seen across Dundee.
Crowds of residents stood outside to watch the firefighters in action. No-one was injured in the incident.
