Well the time has come again to take part in the 5K Colour Run Birmingham and the 21K Great North Run 2015.
Our Operations Director Stephen will be running them again while the Managing Director Paul has the harder job (joking) of raising as much money for a well deserved charity that is close to many people’s hearts….This year our charity is for….(click on the link to visit their website)
Birmingham Dogs Home was founded in 1892 on land made available by the late Sir Alfred Gooch Bart in New Canal Street, Birmingham. Sadly this building, which over a century later still had ‘Birmingham Home for Lost and Starving Dogs’ proudly displayed above its doors, was destroyed in a fire during 2014 – but from the foundations established at this humble building, the charity continues to exist and grow.
Almost 100 years after the charities founding – in 1987 – the Duchess of York officially opened the new Bartholomew Street home, which had been purpose-built to provide shelter and protection for over 150 abandoned dogs in comfortable kennel blocks with adjacent facilities, such as its own vets’ clinic, puppy unit and isolation block.
The home is a charity, which does not receive money from the Government, and can only survive through the generosity and support of the general public and benefactors from the local community. Without this we would be unable to carry on the vital work of rescuing and re-homing abandoned dogs.
We are aiming to raise £1000 for this great charity through running the 5K Birmingham Colour Run on the 15th August 2015 and the Great North Run on 13th September 2015
We have between now (July) and September to reach this target and we are asking Individuals and Companies to help us do so by donating whatever they can afford through one of the methods below.
We have a proposal for those Companies that are generously wanting to donate…..
After the events end in September Fire Safety Managers are setting up an advertising page on their website where every Company that donates a minimum of £100 can have their Company Logo, Contact Details and a link directly to their website for a whole year for free. All visitors to our website will have the ability to go to this page and retrieve your details and in addition we will also forward your company details on to our new and existing customers for any products or services that they mention in a conversation with any of our staff.
We had just over 24,000 visitors to our website in June 2015 just in the UK alone so how much do you think that kind of advertising is worth? More than £100 donation to a well deserved charity for a 13 mile run we are doing that is for sure.
Call the fundraising team on 0121 439 1220 to discuss this opportunity further and to arrange a written agreement for the advertising space.
There are a few ways to donate for this charity and event.
You can visit Stephen’s Just Giving Page at https://www.justgiving.com/Stephen-Bennett-2015/
Or you can text PUPP85 (and donation amount) £10 to 70070 – you have to make sure you add the donation amount. *Please note donating this way adds to your phone bill and not directly take payment. (we all have money for our phone bills so an extra few quid wont break the bank)
We also have a sponsor sheet which we can add your name to and payment will be required between 13th – 21st September 2015.
If you are a Company that wishes to donate for advertising space then call the office and speak to Paul who will make the arrangements for you.
Remember this fundraising is for one of our Directors to run the 3.1 miles Birmingham Colour Run and the 13.1 miles Great North Run and therefore ends on September 13th 2015 so all donations must be in before then.
All of us at Fire Safety Managers and the Birmingham Dogs Home cannot thank you enough for the donations received so far and any that are received in the future. This is a great charity to support, re-home and to generally look after man’s best friend after being neglected and abused by their previous owners.
Thank you all very much!!
On August 15th 2015 one of our Director’s Stephen Bennett ran the Birmingham’s Colour Run in aid of a local charity the Birmingham Dog’s Home.
